Lee Quinones, our newest New York resident car critic, better disguised as an artist, takes the reins of a cagey colt.
The crimson red on the 2008 BMW 328i is nice and the interior is race-a-like, but a street sedan should not eat the amount of gas that this little caboose does.
Being a six speed with out any steep cogs out back, this car should bless you with maybe 20 or so miles per gallon in the city. At 17 MPG, it would spook my wallet at the dealer and I didn’t even have my foot through the radiator. Very conservative driving to say the least.
It handles great as it hugs the road like gum. The tilt lever below the steering wheel is just too close to the turn signal lever and it made turning just a little more intriguing.
What’s up with the continuing ping when your lap belts are not clicked? Better it say; “You are going to die” than to hear that annoying ping for the first few seconds after clicking. The stereo system is a slice of very nice with woofers and treble all over where the eyes can see. Much impressed with that. The only gripe with me is: any thing at 50K and over should have a satellite system as standard, no extra fees.
The retractable hardtop convertible was a site to see especially when my 8 year old boy gave it the “Transformer” approval rating.
