Poughkeepsie, pronounced who cares, is the name of the small town I’m from in New York, and PK gets no love. Even Charlotte poo poo’d it in the Sex and The City movie and now, I’m poo pooing the entire state of New York and going out to Cali. That’s right, I am retiring my unlimited monthly Metrocard, and venturing into a new time and gang zone. Why? Because I can, and my fiance lives there. He just happens to be the bees knees so, I gotta go where my honey is.

And sweet is life of Californians—so I’m told. The sand is safer and the people appear to be somewhat slimmer out there. My not so perfect body screams “she’s not from here,” but I am going to do my best to blend and adapt to the Pacific. Sure, I am going to miss the city life, the events, Broadway shows, intrusive subway singers and America’s best underground break-dance crews, but I will be surfing and searching for music, culture and people. One of the best parts about this move (aside from the sleepy pillow laughs I get to share with my babe) is the drive factor. I will be driving a guesstimate 80% more—something pretty foreign for New Yorkers (and I used to be the managing editor for Rides, the illest car magazine ever!)

I will be jet-setting out to Cali. After I unpack and settle in, my fiance and I are hitting the road and the sand. First stop, Joshua Tree National Park Desert. Once occupied by some Native Cultures, I journeyed there in 2003, for a fashion photo shoot and I vowed to return and experience the tranquility of the land and to inhale the fresh air. Stay tuned to find out what wagon I will be traveling in and how this East Coast girl gone West, is settling in.

I’ve always enjoyed the cute witty literary pieces you engaged us / your audience with over the years. So my next question is where is the magazine or when can we expect to see it available? Also how is the west ? and is/was it your best choice, a NY State inquiring mind wants to know? They always said “If you can make it here , you can make it anywhere!” so cali shouldn’t be a problem. Again I wish the best of luck you, your fiance, new career move!, and new stages in life!
