We’ve long been fascinated by car culture and the people who keep it interesting. Our favorite folks are those who collect the Detroit legends — an art form with sheet metal as the medium — and then flip it with their own sense of style. New York Giant Mike Jennings sent us this video last fall after telling us about his off-season passion — the old school car game. Here he shows off his pet project — Michael Strahan’s 1963 Lincoln Continental.

Jennings co-owns Phat Boi Slim Customs, a Jacksonville, Florida based business with his childhood best friend. Personallly, Jennings is a fan of Chevys from the ‘90s including a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado, a1995 Chevrolet Caprice and a 1995 Chevrolet Impala. However, much of his work is on Detroit-made cars from the ’60s and ’70s.

“It’s always been a passion for my best friend and I. In my spare time I go floating in my car, like a leaf when it falls out of the tree. Everybody knows that Mike Jennings is always talking about Chevrolet,” he told us. “The main word that separates us is sway.” Candy-paint coatings, lifted suspension and wheels – they do it all, and his teammates are first in line. They’ve rebuilt cars for Giants players including a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle for wide receiver David Tyree, a 1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertible for running back Plaxico Burress, in addition to Strahan’s Lincoln. The Lincoln is the crown gem. Nicknamed the JFK car, Jennings picked the car up in Michigan refurbished the interior’s fiberglass, rebuilt the motor which had rats in it and installed navigation and hydraulics.

“Nothing quite gets the attention like the old school,” Strahan told us when we asked him about it. More to come soon from one on one convo’s car guys in the NFL.
