Tony Stamolis, author of Frezno, has done it again. First reaction: Blush. Second: Don’t open at the local cafe where people will get the wrong idea (ahem.). Third: Indulge in the carnal, grotesque and fascinating juxtaposition of food and full-breasted women, where art meets tongue-in-cheek and tortillas.
Shot on location with women and food mostly in California, T&T&A reconstructs the appearance of take-out Mexican with the female form in every which way imaginable.
Here’s a taste from page 64, depicting a lady parked (sprawled out) in the back of a ruby red 1966 Plymouth Satellite on black vinyl. Fresno, 2009
The image of tacos will be forever altered under the trickery of Stamolis’ lens.
The book is due out in March 2010 on the SUMP Books imprint.
